Cherry Blossom Girls: A Superhero Adventure (English Edition) Reviews
I have never read something as strange as this story, and I hope it stays that way. The MC is really annoying.
I'm sorry but this book just isn't very good. Stopped reading on chapter 5. The series is trying to be meta and frankly it works too well as my suspension of disbelief was quickly ruined due to all the in-jokes and constant. quotes. Like seriously he quotes stuff for almost everything. Hmm should I flush the toilet? As Average Joe said in that Famous Book, "Flush till the poo is gone." Oh hey we passed a blue car, the colour blue, hmm as Morpheus said, "Take the blue pill or red pill?" many of them make no impact or even sense to whatever the hell the MC is doing and seems like a weird way of the author telling us readers, "Hey I know lots of quotes!" General pacing is also pretty meh and it's a warning bell to me as a reader if I find myself putting my kindle down for anything other than a bathroom break or due to lack of sleep. With this one I found myself browsing youtube videos in between every handful of pages I read out of boredom. Sorry if I sound harsh but a good book will pull you in within the first chapter, I tried my best through five of them and had to put it down just to write this review.
this book could have been great..it just isn’t..all the ingredients are there . The reader has to fill in parts of the book while other parts go in to nauseating detail..this is a poor execution of a good idea I’ll pass on book two
I wanted to like this book, as the premise seemed cool. I had to force myself to read the first half of the book and ended up finishing it just to get closure. The LitRPG elements are underdeveloped and completely irrelevant to the story. The harem aspect of it was a bit of a headscratcher, as I couldn't comprehend the motives of the girls and nothing in the entire book explained the main character's appeal to them. The author poked fun at the nerdy loser MC trope by making the main character a self aware nerdy loser with a fetish for being the next Walter White. Overall I found the MC unlikable and unrelatable. The whole MC writing a book about his new life as things happened to him brought to mind someone throwing Deadpool into an Inception sequel. It was outputting and a little frustrating. The final straw was the future US government and mishmash of brand names that could have come straight out of Idiocracy.
While it does make me me wonder why the girls were more than willing to listen to Gideon and how that Grace was cut off from most all interaction that she was more than willing to have relations with our resident writer, it was a pretty great read. Also, it was also interesting in getting a peek behind the veil to what authors have to experience to make their craft flourish. Kind of curious if this harem goes more for the quantity or quality as the series goes on.
Something a little different, funny, a bit of action. A quick entertaining read. Looking forward to the second book in the series.
