Rescuing Rayne (Delta Force Heroes Book 1) (English Edition) Reviews
First of all, the novel should come with a trigger warning in the blurb and before the first chapter even starts that one chapter contains a detailed graphic description of seven-time rape, how the rapes differ and what the victim is expected to endure. The raping didn't happen (fortunately) and the description wasn't necessary for the plot; the victim would suffer a trauma alone from beeing held hostage for a week.I nearly stopped reading after the first three chapters because of all those inconsistencies:- Rayne is a flight attendant on Ghost's flight out of London but she doesn't enter the aircraft with her crew to prepare for the flight instead she sits next to Ghost in the waiting area.- Their flight is delayed and then cancalled because of a storm raging over London. Both check into a hotel and then go sightseeing, - remember the storm?- Rayne doesn't change her shoes, in the rain she walks around in heels. Remember the storm, they don't have any rain appropriate clothing much less an umbrella.Lots of sex, lots of inner musing on both parts, the assault in Kairo with the disturbing above mentioned scene is the culmination, and then the story goes downhill to the expected happy ending.Inconsistencies and detailed descriptions of (sexuell) abuse are my pet peeves and a no-go.
I love all these SEAL and Delta stories, but: the wedding of charles, prince of wales and lady diana spencer took place at St Pauls Cathedral. the wedding of prince william and kate took place at Westminster Abbey.
✴✴ARC provided by author in return for an honest review!✴✴I was mourning the end of my beloved SEALS; but, I got over it because Author Susan Stoker had the new Delta series waiting! It helped that my SEALS made an appearance in Rescuing Rayne.Stranded overnight in London, Ghost and Rayne meet. Rayne is not looking to hook up and Ghost does not do relationships. The more time Ghost spends with Rayne, the more he wants her---temporarily. Rayne is a good girl, but her inner bad girl is bitch-slapping the good girl into the closet! So, what happens? Do they get together or not? You need to read the book! One thing is for sure, they have made a tremendous impression on each other. This book has world political intrigue, romance, and hot sexy scenes! Rayne is funny and is a perfect foil for the serious Ghost. The road to true happiness does not run smoothly for these two. But, if they can overcome all of these situations, they'll have an amazing love story. Ghost's teammates are sexy, funny and fiercely loyal and I am already in love with them!💜Ms. Stoker does it again. She is a master story teller who ties all nuances of this romance together! I cannot wait for the other books in this new and wonderful series!
Susan Stoker – Delta Force Heroes. Rescuing Rayne - Book 1If any book deserves a 10 STAR review, this one is it! As an avid reader of Military Romance’s there are many, many authors writing in this category. However, in my opinion, there are maybe 6-7 really GREAT authors writing in Military Romance and Ms. Stoker is in the top tier.I was/am in love with her Seal of Protection series and sad when that series ended. Ms. Stoker, however, cared so much for her readers that she has weaved the characters from the Seals of Protection with Delta Force. Thank you Ms. Stoker!!With the first book in the new series Delta Force Heroes I believe it is one of the best read I can rememer. Rescuing Rayne is so well written that you wanted at least 100 more pages (yes it is that good) because you are not ready to let these new characters go. Ms. Stoker has found the right recipe for a romance book that weaves hot sexy alpha males and the females who tame them (a little) and weaves a heartfelt story with mystery and heart stopping suspense. My experience after reading about 14 of her books is you will be thinking about the book long after you are finished. In the first Delta Force book, we are reintroduced to Kean “Ghost” Bryson who was in the last book of the Seal of Protection, “Protecting the Future” where after the “Seals” rescued a hostage (Penelope) and during the extraction their helicopter was shot down. Ghost’s Special Ops Delta team was sent in to save and extract the Seals and Penelope. This book picks up right after the successful rescue and extraction with Ghost heading back to the States.Ghost is a typical special ops alpha male and when his flight connecting out of London was delayed until the next day, he sat wondering what where would he go. Rayne Jackson is a Flight Attendant and was on the same flight heading back to Texas for time off. When Rayne and Ghost met they were drawn to each other. Ghost lied to Rayne and gave her a fake name and address and then they spent the day sightseeing in London. That night they agreed to a one-night stand. Ghost never has a woman over one night because his job is too dangerous to have a family, at least he thinks so.As Ghost slipped out of the hotel room, for the first time he was filled with regret. But, fate brought them back together 6 months later in Egypt. The “Seal Team” and the Ghost’s Delta team was sent in to rescue about 60 hostages.Don’t miss this wonderful love story with hot, steamy passion and find out if Ghost and Rayne can have a HEA.
Rescuing Rayne by Susan Stoker is a wonderfully action packed and emotion-filled story. From reading the blurb, I was pretty sure I would like it, but I was unprepared for how much I loved the story as well as Keane "Ghost" Bryson and Rayne's characters. Oh, and the cover, don't get me started. Even his t-shirt down to the slightly dirty spot on it was just so spot on. Ok, I know that's weird, but i'm a cover nut and this one is gorgeous with Big Ben and Ghost on the cover. In short, Rescuing Rayne, is about a young woman who is a flight attendant and a Delta Force soldier, Keane Bryson aka Ghost. Ghost is on his way home from a mission and Rayne is on a layover. Their flight gets delayed and they get held over in London. Meeting each other while waiting, their chemistry is immediate, and they decide to spend their time together exploring London and then later for one night, exploring each other. Both Ghost and Rayne both feel something towards each other, something huge, but agree it's only for one night. My heart hurt for these two people. They're so obviously meant to be with each other and the issues standing in their way seem insurmountable. I actually thought for a moment there might not be an HEA for these two, but the author found a way to bridge the gap and do it beautifully. I'm not telling any more of the story lol. Get to one-clicking so you can find out. :)The emotion Ms. Stoker brings to Rescuing Rayne is so heartfelt. Whether it was happiness, sadness, anger, or being turned on, the emotion conveyed by both characters was so real. When the two characters were apart with what seemed like no hope for finding each other again, my hurt felt like it literally hurt. And when you read about their tattoos...OMG, it was the best. Ok, no more story details! I have to stop myself because I want to tell the whole story...the book was that good.Congratulations to Susan Stoker for another 5 star read. I actually think it deserves way more than 5 stars. I highly recommend this book. to anyone who likes military romance or even someone just likes a beautiful story. This will definitely be a reread for me and Ghost, well he's all mine...back it up ladies!
