A Coast to Coast Walk: A Pictoral Guide (Wainwright Pictorial Guides) Reviews
Very interesting indeed.
Who needs this book? People who plan to make the "Coast to Coast" walk across England. This 300 kilometre trek was one of the best things we've ever done, and the small red book was our daily companion as we walked . Must have.
An inspiring book. Especially in these days of so much photography, this book shows the power of good a writing combined with detailed ink drawings. Some comments would sound incorrect by today standards, but the in overall the book is very good.
Bought this for a birthday present to go with another Coast to Coast book, my friend ia also enjoying this book too.
My husband used this on his walk. It was helpful, but some of the landmarks were evidently gone. And paths a little hard to find. Wainwright's video of the walk was very interesting and fun to watch with him after his walk.
Let me start with something interesting about this book.
This beautiful guide to England's Coast to Coast walk is a rare thing... a very practical and reasonably up to date guide by the man who originated the route together with the original drawings and maps Wainright did to accompany the original edition. It is a beautiful book. The photoreproductions of Wainright's original handprinting give the book the feel of an historical artifact; a work of art from a different era.
A great book for planning and walking across England. It has all the details necessary and is written in a humorous vein. The personal drawings and asides add to the light-hearted approach. Really necessary for the details of the walk.
