Miss Nelson Is Missing! Reviews
I bought this book because it's a classic from my youth. I remember watching Reading Rainbow when they featured this book. Well it's appeal hasn't died my kids love it!!! My kids are 18 to 4 and I am frequently asked by the younger ones that can't read it to read it again and again! A must for any family library!
One of my all time favorites. I have read it to my classes and to my grandchildren.
Maybe older kids would appreciate this book. The drawings are very well done. In the story, a misbehaving class loses their good, sweet regular teacher to a sub, the black-clad, "real witch," Miss Swamp. Miss Swamp expects the kids to work and loaded them down with homework. At one point, Miss Swamp "snaps," "Open those arithmetic books!" [Reviewer's aside: Please no! Not the ARITHMETIC books! Please, please, Miss Swamp, we'll do ANYthing!]
My wife just remembered this book the other day. She used to read it when she was a kid in elementary school. She really wanted to get it so my son could enjoy it like she used to. He loves it too. She was so glad she could get it so easily on Amazon.
I loved this book as a little girl and had to purchase it for my son. He's only 3 so he wasn't as interested because he doesn't really understand the concept of substitute teachers yet, but when he gets older I'm sure he'll enjoy this more.
Transitioning from daycare teacher to public school substitute was completely nerve racking for me... At the beginning of my journey, Substute Creacher was there to help immediately draw attention and ease the awkwardness in the room. Great experience for both, the kids and me. Monthssss later, I still keep it on hand. Perfect pair to Substitite Creacher 😉
I was an 80's baby and this was one of my favorite story books when I was younger. I bought this for my 4 year old daughter to pass the tradition along and she loved this book, so much so that we read it 3 times last night. So humbling to know that she liked the same stories as I did at her age.
My three kids love Ms. Nelson. They learn, they laugh and they reads these books over and over again!
